Biography:

Edo print publisher Hori Takichi of Yushima (Marks has it as Ōtaya Takichi, #423). Artists published by this house include Kuniaki, Kunichika, Kunihisa II, Toyokuni III, Kunisada II, Kuniyoshi, Kyōsai, Yoshikazu, Yoshiiku, Yoshimori and Yoshitora.

Kuniyoshi and Toyokuni III are the only artists in the Lyon Collection published by this house. We have highlighted their names in bold type.

Marks notes: "Came from a block carver family and was active as a carver since the mid 1840s, being a student of Asakura Ihachi I. The carvers Ōta Tashichi and Masukichi were his younger brothers. The carver Ōta Utakichi his son."
