"As early as 1832, Ebiya Rinnosuke was in business as a fan merchant, issuing fan prints." His earliest known fan print was designed by Kunisada for a kabuki performance from the third month of 1832. "Fan prints are rare today as they were intended to be glued on a frame and used. How productive Ebiya actually was in his early period is therefore not possible to tell."
