Biography:

This actor held this name from 1/1846 to 5/1859. His grandfather was Mimasu Daigorō II (1748-93). His father was Daigorō III (1782-1824). His brother was Mimasu Yoshisaburō. His sons were Mimasu Gengorō I (dates unknown) and Mimasu Gengorō II (dates unknown).

Daigorō IV was born in 1798 and died on the 13th day of the 5th lunar month of 1859.

Mimasu Daigorō IV was an outstanding tachiyaku and katakiyaku actor, who started his career in Kamigata, spent 18 fruitful and successful seasons in Edo and went back in Kamigata to give triumphant performances in the major theaters. Shortly after his last performance he fell ill and died suddenly.
