Biography:
Edo print publisher (Marks 412). Artists published by this house include Eishō, Kiyomitsu II, Kunisada, Shuntei, Toyoharu, Toyohisa, Tsukimaro, Utamaro and Utamaro II. Waseda University has an ehon published by Ōmiya Gonkurō illustrated by Kitao Masayoshi.
The quality work of this publisher is clear as can be seen by the great number of exquisite Utamaro prints they produced and which can be found in the collections of some of the finest museum in both the East and the West.
Utamaro is the only artist in the Lyon Collection who was published by this house. We have highlighted his name in bold type.
