Biography:

Very little is known about this actor. We don't even know his birth or death dates. However, we do know that he was one of Ichikawa Ebijūrō III's three masters. According to Kabuki21 Ebijūrō was given the name Nakayama Jinkichi (I) by Monjūrō some time before 1817.

Nakayama Monjūrō had two acting brothers: Nakayama Bunshichi I (1732-1813) and Nakayama Shinkurō II (1738-83). Monjūrō was a student of Nakayama Shinkurō I (1702-75).
