Biography:

We know almost nothing about this actor and have only found two prints in which he is identified. Also, we have no idea why he is called Ganchō I when we can't find any other actors with that name.

The two prints he appears in date from 1826 and 1828, both are by Hokuchō. In the 1826 composition, a diptych, he is shown performing with Nakamura Shikan II, Nakamura Utaemon IV, Asao Okuyama III, Asao Tamejūrō III, Asao Kunigorō III, and Ichikawa Ebijūrō I.
